member contribution notes - Shareshop held in June 2024 re: Applying our 3 focus areas (Cost, Care workers and Culture) to the experience of the customers/ residents/ clients/older persons/users in our care using their journey to guide us – Considering: Moving in -Part 2

Rika offered to provide the templates used by Helderberg Society for the Aged, which members are welcome to make use of:

1) Standard Application pack
2) Pre-Admission interview, which is attended by the family member and resident (if possible). If the family is overseas or not close we conduct a virtual meeting with them.
3) A signing of contract form where they sign the documentation that has been received by them.
4) I have added an excel document that we can work on for a resident take on process with some steps. We can add some / adjust. This can be used or expanded on as a guideline as best practice documents?
5) A resident guide and extract from the Consumer Protection Act.

Tracey from Medwell provided a "Getting to know you" document from Alzheimers Australia, which is available in the general Resources list of this website now.

Huis Herfsblaar & Geluksoord emphasised the importance of showing the prospective resident and their family the room and environment prior to occupation and allowing them to decorate/furnish.

Many agreed that the concept of a "buddy system" where residents in a particular area take responsibility for integration and orientation of new residents.

There seemed to be consensus that more effort could go into the orientation of staff regarding incoming residents.
