Providing our residents living with dementia with the opportunity to experience the therapeutic effects of the Nordic Wellness chair that combines music, vibration and rocking.
Arjo, the supplier. provided some training and support to our staff on how to get the best results for residents. This included early identification of behaviour and needs which could be addressed by residents spending 20 minutes in the chair per day.
The quality outcomes for dementia care and support are very apparent. Our person centred approach combined with the use of the chair, are providing improved well-being, as well as safe and dignified multisensory hygiene routines for most of our residents. The chair is now being used 24 hours per day. it is placed in a communal area and the background effect of the music has a positive calming effect on residents also.
